What you need to know about vented and vent free models

Wood fireplaces, in earlier times, were used for household duties like cooking and heating the house. As time went on, they became a form of decoration with the mind picturing a scenario of a couple sitting before the flames sipping red wine or hot cocoa and cuddling. As their eyes reflect the fire, romance is stirring in the air and "Let it Snow" is playing over the radio. Now, those times have passed, and though we may still want to recreate such dreamy scenes, a need to be economical has taken over. It's not romantic to have to buy expensive wood, find a dry place to store it, go out in the cold weather, and bring enough in to keep a fire going for the day. These days, Gas Fireplaces are taking over the scenario.

Why choose Gas Fireplaces? Because economically, they are worth it. When it comes to convenience, they can't be beat. No longer do you have to buy all that wood, or store it, or carry it in daily so that you can keep a fire going. Gas is much cheaper to come by and you can choose propane or natural gas. A lot of people choose the natural gas because it is more common. Depending on the model you choose, you may have the pleasure of a fire scene that looks real. While the cost of vented Gas Fireplaces is higher than the ventless, there are immediate and long lasting benefits to the vented models.

Among the benefits of both types is, as mentioned, the convenience. With just a flick of a switch, you have immediate, economical heat. With the vented gas fireplace, you will enjoy a much more authentic looking fire, with yellow flames and classic beauty. The ventless models will produce a typical bluish flame as you would see in a gas space heater. Vented Gas Fireplaces are considered safer because all of the emissions they produce are sent outside of the home. Though the vented is more costly from a monetary point of view, the ventless can be more costly in the long run. Most advice you will find in reviews will suggest purchasing the vented gas fireplace.
